Wedding at BURGH HOUSE, Hampstead

Wedding in Hampstead this weekend was Maria's and Peter's. The wedding venue was Burgh House in North West London. Tucked away just off of Hampstead High St, Burgh House is a Queen Anne Grade I listed building, erected in 1703,It is also the home of the Hampstead Museum of Local History.



We had some time just before the ceremony to do some very simple wedding portraits through the local streets. A local couple commented wow are you still here, this was three in the afternoon, I had arrived at Burgh House at 9 in the morning doing all my prep work.

Chelsea Wedding at St Lukes

Mum and and Dad, from their wedding December 20 1952. Mum grew up in Chelsea yards away from St Lukes ..dad he was an East End boy from Bow . Sadly mum and dad are not around any more. Their rings though they exchanged that day have been joined together and I have on my hand.

a bit Hollywood wedding ish

At the recent australian destination wedding I did between Kylie and James. A part of mine wedding planning is to introduce myself ask the priest about the service.

I always ask when in the service will the kiss be, normally there are three different moments this could be. This priest gave me the look and said ' ooooh thats a bit Hollywood wedding isnt it ?''they might do that in Los Angeles' I disagreed and said Im sure 99% of the guests here will say they are expecting ' You may kiss the bride' . I told the groom James, he also thought that would be part of the service, this was the reaction he recieved when asking.

Castle Winter Wedding

Destination weddings are over for the year, next stop Los Angeles. Groom Peter and the bride Sandra had just the most amazing day, we were so lucky with everything, except the veil flying off into space. Everywhere we walked there was a new location to shoot at.

They took my advice and brought very long sparklers to light up this winter wedding.We ended the day at magic hour with views of the city.

Just read an article for on Vera Wang Dresses and Barbie, Barbie is turning the big 50. Vera Wang is designing a wedding dress for her.

Next year our favourite doll is celebrating her 50th Birthday party and is doing so in true style.
Toy company Mattel, who have been making Barbie’s before many of us were even born, have revealed their fashionable plans for the doll.
Mattel told WWD magazine that they would be teaming up with fashion designers Jeremy Scott and Vera Wang to launch a designer clothing brand for humans, complete with a cosmetics range and a glamorous catwalk show at New York fashion week.
Life sized outfits will be designed and each item in the collection will be inspired by the iconic doll.
Of course, Vera Wang, who is known for her gorgeous bridal gowns will be designing a wedding dress for Barbie's special birthday.
The cosmetic range will also hit beauty counters next year and will include products called ‘All Dolled Up’ and ‘Plastic Smooth,’ Expect to see a stampede among the Hollywood women.
Question is how old is Ken ? and will Hugo Boss or Armani be helping out here.

Hollywood Castle Destination Wedding

Kieth and the bride Alona chose a swedish castle for their candle light destination wedding,everything was candlelight except the classic hollywood lighting technique I used.



Most of the guests had travelled from California and Florida, talking to Alona's dad we discovered we both came to america within days of each other in 1980.

On my wedding feed this morning this came up ... thought it funny the line the credit crunch is so the moment'

Putting the phrase on the site has helped sales, says owner Sharon Gavin. "The credit crunch is so of the moment. Everyone is talking about it."

Australian Destination Wedding

This past weekend I had an Australian Destination wedding, in a lovely village in Norfolk, Wells.

Guests had come from Perth and around the world for this international affair. James and Kylie chose a Pub, The Crown to have their wedding in, what a great idea the wedding had a total homely feel to it .... strangely in the pub though there was no Fosters.

Wow I had a great time over the weekend, I photographed my third ever wedding at the Ritz Carlton in Dana Piont many years ago. This time it was Toni and Pauls wedding. A wedding filled with some great people I made lots of friends and had plenty of laughs.

Wedding in RED

My wedding over the weekend was set on an island, it had a destination wedding feel to it. Leila the bride was beautiful, half French half Tunisian. I just loved the the venue. I asked the bride Leila where the theme came from , she replied ' I just love this time of year'.



I saw a wedding guest with a shopping bag that said WHYRED that really suited this series of shots. The red band of carpet with apples hanging from it was a very cool idea.

Again one of the latest trends if you read below is old fashioned photo booths. At a recent wedding my son and I had fun in one of them armed with my D3 and Hugo Boss suit Nick decided on the poses. I have always offered this in my packages, self portrait bureaus, its a great wedding idea, lots of fun and a cool way to have all the guests photographed.

The New Yorks Daily News reports latest wedding trends

Old-fashioned photo booths are the latest trend in reception diversions.

From the gown to the cake, it's no secret that all eyes are on New York for the latest in wedding trends. But get this: The fad of the moment in the Big Apple is, well, not to be too trendy.

"New York is an odd bird: It's the first to have the top trends, but ultimately most New Yorkers are staying classic," says Julie Raimondi, editor in chief of Brides New York.

"It's not just about showing off. New Yorkers are about making guests comfortable and being hospitable. That tends toward classic details," says Raimondi, who spotlights the hottest fall wedding trends in major cities across the country in the new issue of the magazine, which hit newstands this past week.

While L.A. weddings are paying tribute to the '80s with sushi bars and neon bridesmaid dresses, and Atlanta weddings are playing up luxury with elaborate groom's cakes and gourmet food stations, New York is getting back to basics with their trends for the big day.

WEDDING DRESS

"[New Yorkers] look for anything that isn't strapless, which leads to lots of cap sleeves, V-necks and high necks," says Raimondi, adding that good examples are in Vera Wang's latest collection.

BRIDESMAIDS

As for bridesmaids, no more matchy matchy dresses and too-outrageous colors. The metro bride's mind-set is to let her ladies pick the dress, while dictating the fabric or color. Raimondi highlights a short, champagne color Jim Hjelm dress with pockets (yes, pockets) as a typical dress.

COLOR PALETTE

"This is not the bride that is like, 'Oh my god, my colors are this and this,'" says Raimondi. "The colors comes out of a more organic place, rather than a trend. It often comes from flowers used in the wedding." On the list this year: pink and white orchids, roses and calla lilies.

NUMBER OF GUESTS

When it comes to size of the wedding, the numbers are shrinking. The average wedding is now just 150 people. "New York is the most expensive place to get married and for guests to travel to, so you see the numbers going down in order to save money, and most New Yorkers don't have the luxury of being impractical with money," says Raimondi.

RECEPTION

But a smaller wedding party has made way for the hottest (and most fun) trend in weddings: the cocktail reception. "It's a great way to save money ... and it's perfect for smaller weddings," Raimondi explains, adding it actually gives the couple a chance to interact with their guests, rather than just a napkin with their initials on it.

ENTERTAINMENT

Forget the karaoke machine. This season's hottest reception diversion is the vintage photo booth. Guests can take something home with them they actually want. "When it comes down to it, this city understands how to throw a party," explains Raimondi. "A lot of weddings are full of superficial silliness, but I think New Yorkers understand that some of the best times with friends and family can be at your own wedding."

THE GREAT BRITISH WEDDING .... rain

What a weekend to have two weddings in England. My first was in the historic city of York the second in Suffolk. But we had great plan 'B s' . lways remember when planning your wedding have a plan B
The newspapers predicted it and reported it.
' The north of England, were worst hit by heavy rain yesterday as the storms moved up from Wales and the south-west. Five people died as severe storms battered Britain and hundreds of homes were flooded and major events were cancelled. Some areas had up to 1.5ins (40mm) of rain in 24 hours.
Phil Rothwell 'to be very aware of the weather and very vigilant when they see we are getting huge amounts of rainfall," he said.
There was one severe flood warning in place covering parts of south-east Manchester, and more than 200 flood warnings or watches covering swathes of Britain. '

Celebrity Wedding guests Elvis and

Priscilla, Richard Burton Liz Taylor and more sadly they wasnt present but what a great idea for a wedding if you love the classics . The tables all had celebrity names.
The couple designed the images themselves printed them on recycled paper at Kinko's, it was a green wedding. I will be posting more great ideas and tips from this wedding later

Fun at Wedding in Sweden

My destination wedding in sweden had some fun over the weekend . The bride saw a tree and said ' oh look at that tree and sign how cute .. what does that mean 'Kiss and Cuddle' ? ... the host of the venue informed us in Swedish, Kiss translates to ' wee wee' and 'Krak' translates to 'to throw up'. So actually we were under 'Piss and Vomit tree' ... it sort of lost its romance.

Destination Wedding in Marrakech

Well actually not this wedding was in Constable country in Suffolk. The wedding venue is Yaxley Hall , Karen the bride managed to decorate the reception site with osterich feathers which she managed to buy on ebay. I have had some fantastic meals at wedding receptions, nothing beats the Salmon, so thank you Richard.

My August 1st wedding certainly was a tropical destination wedding Torsten in Dubai and Dana from Canada, they wanted very very relaxed portraits, then we find this location it was a perfect match. Torsten who raced motor cars found a perfect wedding favors for all the men guests, matchbox motors cars, I loved them especially the MK2 Cortini, that was my first car well MK2 Cortini GT was.
